SUGGESTIONS FOR OTHER TEAMS/NEXT CLASS
Donât wait long to share your workflows with the team
- Without understanding the real work your group does through your tools and processes, the Policy Team canât create accurate rules. The more you share from the start, the better the policies will support you.
Talk to the team about what really happens day-to-day
- If you notice a policy that doesnât match actual workflows, communicate that to the team. Policies only work when they reflect what your team truly does.
Let the team know when your systems change
- Updates to configurations, new tools, or security features should be shared so policies stay current and donât get overlooked.
Donât be afraid to point out problem areas
- If a process is confusing or takes too long, let the next Policy Team know. Policies can simplify things and reduce friction.
Assist the team in reviewing and implementing policies
- Your inputâespecially from analysts and engineersâis essential. A quick two-minute review can prevent bigger problems later.
Provide the team with examples
- Real cases from your team make it easier to write strong, useful, and realistic policies.
Work with the team on exceptions
- When something doesnât fit a standard rule, help define when and how exceptions should be allowed.
Stay active during policy updates
- Even short check-ins with the team help ensure new versions match your workflows and tools.
Share your documentation with the team
- Diagrams, configs, screenshotsâanything you already haveâhelps the Policy Team create better policies and reduces guesswork.
